STEMM Prep Academy, Inc., a newly established nonprofit organization based in Maryland, proudly announces its official launch and inaugural Board of Directors. The organization is dedicated to expanding opportunities and access for students pursuing education and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM).

 
Founded by Dr. Robert C. Walker, Jr., a national leader in biomedical research and education, STEMM Prep Academy was created to cultivate a pipeline of future innovators, scientists, engineers, and medical professionals who will shape the future of discovery and innovation.

“Our vision is simple but powerful,” said Dr. Walker. “Every student deserves the exposure, mentorship, and support to reach their full potential in STEMM. STEMM Prep Academy was created to turn that vision into action through building programs that connect learning, leadership, and opportunity.”

 

A Mission Rooted in Excellence, and Empowerment

 

STEMM Prep Academy’s mission is to empower students to excel in STEMM through mentoring, education, and professional development. Its vision is to build a nationally recognized pipeline of STEMM scholars and professionals advancing through excellence. The organization’s motto, “Inspiring Scholars. Empowering Leaders. Impacting the Future.” reflects its commitment to preparing students for the global workforce through education, mentorship, and leadership training.

Through collaboration with universities, government agencies, professional societies, and community-based organizations, STEMM Prep Academy will provide students with early exposure to hands-on research experiences, professional mentoring, and workforce development opportunities.

The Academy’s programming will focus on:

• K–12 Engagement: Mentoring, STEMM exposure, and summer enrichment activities.

• Undergraduate and Graduate Support: Internship pipelines, research readiness, and professional development workshops.

• Career and Leadership Development: Creating mentorship networks and fellowships to prepare emerging scholars for success in STEMM professions.

 

Leadership and Governance

 

The newly appointed Board of Directors brings together accomplished leaders in education, science, health, business, and community development who share a deep commitment to equity and inclusion in STEMM.

“As a collective, our board embodies the spirit of service, strategy, and stewardship,” said Dr. Walker. “Together, we will ensure that STEMM Prep Academy remains mission-driven, accountable, and impactful as we build programs that change lives.”

STEMM Prep Academy is more than an organization, it is a movement to offer access, exposure, opportunities, and success in STEMM fields. By uniting the collective expertise of the board, educators, scientists, community leaders, and industry partners, the Academy seeks to create lasting change for students, and communities nationwide.
